Handmade in Auckland, New Zealand

Pottery carved, glazed and signed by hand

Wildlife platters cut sgraffito style from coloured slip, bowls finished in deep ocean glazes, and small keepsakes with a Kiwi heart. No two pieces are ever the same.

Swan platter being carved through grey slip

The way it’s made

Slow work, by one pair of hands

01

Carved, not printed

The stags, swans and monarchs on Sara’s platters are cut by hand through layers of coloured slip, one line at a time, before the piece is ever fired.

02

Small batch glazes

Deep ocean blues, mossy greens and warm speckled clays, mixed and tested in the studio. The kiln always has the final say, which is half the fun.

03

A Kiwi heart

From te reo word stones to monarch butterflies, the work is rooted in Aotearoa. You will find Sara most weekends at markets around Auckland.
